One of the most important gods of ancient Egypt, Thoh created himself, and invented written language and magic. As the son of Ra, he "was considered the heart and tongue of Ra as well as the means by which Ra's will was translated into speech." He is often seen with his feminine counterpart, Ma'at, flanking Ra's boat.
Thoth is also an arbitrator, and is responsible for "cross-examining" the dead about their actions in life.
A lunar deity often seen crowned with a crescent moon, here Thoth is depicted with the head of an ibis.
